The Hornet TM remote controlled weapon stations range has been qualified by the French Army for the Scorpion program. These remote controlled weapon stations equip the current and future Scorpion vehicles.

HORNET provides the main armament of the GRIFFON and the secondary armament of the JAGUAR.

Among the different weapon models are the Hornet, the Hornet Lite and the Hornet S, i.e. a machine gunner station that can be controlled from inside the vehicle. This equipment is manufactured in France.

The current customer orders place HORNET as one of the major remote weapon station suppliers.

The gyro-stabilized 2+2-axis Hornet provides unmatchable on-the-move observation, firepower and protection capabilities for only 220 kg above the roof including a M2HB machine gun with 300 rounds. To increase survivability on the battlefield, the Hornet is fitted with an exclusive, independent smoke launcher system which can conceal the vehicle to avoid detection or react immediately to a threat.

Designed to be armed with a 7.62 mm machine gun, the Hornet Lite is only 141 kg without weapon, ammunition and protection and maintains the same optronic suite than the Hornet. Longer D/R/I ranges is critical both for reconnaissance and intelligence gathering, as well as in cooperative combat.

The Hornet S is designed as a weaponization of a turreted vehicle’s commander sights. Compared to a solution with one commander sight and one traditional RCWS, it gives advantages of weight, space on the roof, height and is cheaper. Also, it’s able to be aligned with the lines of sight of both the commander sight and the gunner sight.
